If you have arrived here, it is most likely because your child (or children) have just taken up the Olympic (and Commonwealth) sport (and martial art) of Judo. You have questions about what Judo is, what your child will be doing and why? You want to help your child learn Judo.

This site wants to help you, help your child in Judo.

On the pages that follow and in the audio and video clips we have, you will learn about what Judo is (and is not) and how you can help your child learn Judo and excel in the sport. We shall tell you what to expect (and not to expect)  from a Judo club and instructor.

The author of this site is Lance Wicks Bsc.(Hons).

Lance is  a European Judo Union level 5 coach and commisioner on the European Judo Union “Universities and Institutions” commission. He is also a director in www.judospace.com the leading provider of coach education in Judo. he owns a variety of Judo related internet properties including www.planetjudo.com, www.judocoach.com and www.judometrics.com

Currently he is researching ranking systems for elite level Judo for the 2011 International Association of Judo Researchers (IAJR) symposium. In 2009, he presented research to the IAJR on the attack rates of Olympic level Judo which can be found at www.judocoach.com/research2009.html

He currently coaches children at tSolent University in Hampshire, England
